The town has a population of just under 12,000, and this popular watering hole serves many of the locals throughout the year. Known for its airport, the town played a major role in helping stranded passengers when American airspace was closed due to the 9/11 attacks.

“This place was a great place for food and drinks while we traveled around NL. The food is 5 stars as well. The staff was exceptionally friendly and we enjoyed our visit with them. It's family friendly for lunch and dinner. Highly suggest making a visit to Friends,” a reviewer noted. The menu offers everything from pizza to poutine, with hamburgers and steaks cooked to order and a sumptuous dessert menu including their famous chocolate eruption.
A rustic and traditional bar, the log-laden lower walls give way to paneled wood extending to the ceiling. The bar height communal tables are supported by elegantly carved wood poles, while big screen TVs remind patrons that this is a modern bar with all the amenities. Simple and rugged utilitarian grey carpeting covers the floor. Beer signs and a jukebox promise a good night out for all.
The bar area further accentuates the rustic feel of the space, with a tasteful solid wood bar counter supported by more wood. The natural grains and textures of the wood encompassing the bar add visual interest, while the comfortable bucket seats of the bar stools beckon guests to sit for a spell and enjoy their drinks. Unimposing rows of bottles adorn the shelves, hinting at good times to come.
